Many or th odontic orthodontic practices are limited to dentofacial orthopedics and general orthodontics but can successfully treat patients of any age.

Salary: $188,000

Education: It typically takes about 10 years to become an orthodontist. It takes 4 years to obtain a bachelor's degree, another 4 years of dental school, and then 2 more years in a post doctoral program devoted to the study of orthodontics.

Demand for this particular career: Orthodontia, also called orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics, is a specialty field of dentistry that deals primarily with malpositioned teeth and the jaws: their diagnosis, prevention and correction.
